This teen’s amazing DIY dress is ready to light up prom

TwitterFacebook

She loves fashion and coding. So when prom season came around, she had the perfect idea for a DIY dress.

Last year, the world was awed by Zac Posen’s light-up Met Gala dress for Claire Danes. Among its fans was 17-year-old Claire Smith, a homeschooled high school senior and budding engineer from Maryland. Smith was inspired by Posen’s dress and decided to try to make her own version.

This brilliant case will end your kid’s iPhone addiction

TwitterFacebook

Here’s one way to curb phone addiction.

A Japanese company has created an iPhone case to help parents stop their kids from becoming too addicted to their phones.

The case, called the Otomos, is fixed to the phone and cannot be removed without a special screw.

Otomos pairs up with an app that allows parents to limit the child’s daily phone usage. If the child exceeds their daily limit, the phone will automatically enter sleep mode.

These pins defend scientists and science in the Trump era

TwitterFacebook

The couple behind the pins that said “I love you” in American Sign Language, made for the Women’s March in January, are back with a new pin raising money for science and research.

Ahead of the “March for Science” on April 22 in Washington, D.C. and all over the world, Kate Lind and Nate Stevens of Pincause designed a new pin with illustrator Penelope Dullaghan. This one says “Science not silence,” with a rocket ship launching into space.

“This is a critical time for not just the science community, but for humanity and our planet. Staying silent is no longer an option,” Lind said in an email.

We totally agree with George W. Bush on Trump’s inauguration speech

TwitterFacebook

George W. Bush DGAF.

The former president is retired, painting, and hopefully not looking at his Wikipedia page. And apparently he was as confused by Donald Trump’s inauguration speech as everyone else.

If you can remember back to January (sigh), Trump basically described an America that sounded like something out of Mad Max

“The crime and the gangs and the drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential,” he said. “This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.” Read more…
